In line with the strategic plan of Jordan University of Science and Technology and the executive plan of the Faculty of Nursing, and under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Professor Dr. Nihaya Al-Shiyab, an awareness event entitled “Understanding the Risks of Smoking Exposure in Children and Effective Prevention Initiatives” was launched.
This event was prepared by nursing students as part of the Child Health Nursing course, under the supervision of Dr. Reem Ali. The two-day event was held in cooperation with the Smoking Cessation Clinic, reflecting the Faculty of Nursing’s educational and awareness-raising mission and its leading role in promoting community health and disseminating health awareness.
The event aimed to highlight the dangers of smoking through scientific and interactive activities that addressed passive smoking and its health, psychological, and behavioral effects on children. The event also included a range of activities focused on effective prevention strategies, enhancing awareness of the risks of smoking to children's health, and emphasizing the importance of prevention and protecting this vulnerable group.
The open day was attended by faculty members from the College of Nursing, students from various colleges within the university, and university staff.
