The Main Systems Operations Section (MSOS) main job is highly sensitive, as the occurrence of any malfunction in the operating systems at the university will have a direct impact on the educational environment, the university staff, and the housing of female students. MSOS is responsible for a vast geographical area inside and outside the university campus. There are (44) employees, including officials, technicians, and engineers, who work around (24) hours on shifts, during that they receive all complaints and sudden failures in systems to find appropriate solutions as soon as possible
MSOS achieves significant income and financial savings as a result of:
- Medical waste incinerator:
MSOS incinerates the medical waste it collects from government sector hospitals in the North Region and private sector hospitals in the Central and North regions. The medical waste incinerator at the university is considered ad one of the pioneers in this field in Jordan. The university contributes to solving the problem of medical waste by burning it and transforming it into ordinary, non-hazardous waste that is moved regularly to landfills in the region. The percentage of waste formed by the incineration unit at the university is about 40% of the total medical waste generated in the Jordanian medical sector.
Extracting and drawing water from artesian wells, where the unit operates three artesian wells in the Al-Hosn and Al-Naima area and one in the university campus, and the university does not withdraw water from the Water Authority, as the price of a cubic meter of water with sewage fees is two Jordan dinars, while the cost of extraction and traction is less than that. In this way, the university contributes to a simple solution to the problem of water scarcity at the level of Jordan.
The exploitation of treated water through a long-term agreement to withdraw treated water from Wadi Hassan station, located 8 km from the university, where about (1000) m3 of reclaimed water is pumped daily at a symbolic price, in addition to about (1000) m3 of treated water in the university's purification plant with capacity The daily operation is (2,200) m3, which is pumped into the artificial pond, which has an estimated capacity of (140,000) m3 and then pumped for the purposes of irrigating crops, where the financial savings are estimated at hundreds of thousands of dinars if it is irrigated with potable water, which contributes to alleviating the water crisis.
Tasks of MSOS:
Providing and operating central heating for all university facilities through a heating center unit and a spread of subsidiary boilers in different locations.
Programming, operating and monitoring the control unit which exists in the faculties of medical sciences, which are connected to the mechanics rooms, air conditioning, refrigeration units, solar cells for the cafeteria, suction fans, fountains, fire alarm devices, library, and morgue sparks.
Operating the irrigation station near the artificial lake throughout the year to irrigate the university orchards in various locations.
operation of the purification plant 24 hours a day
Operating subsidiary boilers in various areas of the university and throughout the year to secure central heating and adequate hot water.
Operating equipment for providing hot water throughout the year for the central kitchen
Operation of the medical waste incinerator
Operating artesian wells in (Al-Hosn, Al-Naima, and the new University well) to provide drinking water for University and King Abdullah University Hospital.
Operation and management of the electrical system at the university:
11KV. Electrical substation: Through the substation, conversion is carried out from 33 kV to 11 kV. Then it is converted to 400 volts and 220 volts through 48 distribution transformers spread across the university campus.
There are 11 backup generators that work directly if any crush of power from the source and feed sensitive and important sites in the university.
