Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) has launched three aeroponics units at the Faculty of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Korea and MidBar Company, to enhance applied agricultural education and research in smart agriculture and food security.
Prof. Ahmad Al-Ajlouni, Vice President of JUST, said the initiative supports the University's efforts to adopt modern technologies that help address water scarcity and climate change and advance national food security priorities.
Prof. Anas Al-Nabulsi, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, noted that the units provide a hands-on learning and research platform that strengthens students' practical and research skills in smart farming technologies.
Dr. Mohammad Obaidat, Director of the Research and Training Department, explained that each portable unit can accommodate about 1,200 seedlings. The Faculty has completed the first production cycle and harvested its first lettuce crop, demonstrating high productivity with low water use and precise environmental control.
