The Faculty of Pharmacy at Jordan University of Science and Technology held a specialized educational workshop on Interprofessional Education (IPE), organized by the faculty's Interprofessional Learning Committee. The workshop was attended by approximately forty students from various health disciplines, including Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Nutrition, and Emergency and Paramedic Sciences.
The workshop aimed to promote the concept of interdisciplinary collaboration among health professions by enabling students to learn with, from, and about one another. This approach contributes to a deeper understanding of the roles of different healthcare professionals within the healthcare team and enhances professional collaboration and the overall quality of healthcare services.
The Dean of the Faculty, Professor Qosay Al-Balas, emphasized that organizing this workshop aligns with the university's vision, the strategic directions of its medical faculties, and the international accreditation standards adopted by many of its academic programs. He highlighted its role in shaping students' professional identity, equipping them with essential professional skills, and preparing them to work efficiently and competently within integrated healthcare teams.
The workshop commenced with a keynote presentation delivered by Dr. Osama Alshogran, who outlined the concept of IPE and its importance in developing communication and teamwork skills, as well as its role in improving healthcare practices. The program also included interactive discussion sessions of clinical cases between students presented from a multidisciplinary professional perspective, fostering analytical thinking and collaborative decision-making in clinical practice.
The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members from the participating colleges, in addition to Professor Mamoun Diab from the University of Reading, UK, as part of efforts to support academic exchange and strengthen the international dimension of the educational process.
This workshop is part of the Faculty of Pharmacy's ongoing efforts to advance educational practices and keep pace with the latest global trends in health professions education, thereby positively impacting learning outcomes and the quality of healthcare delivery.
