Launch of the Local Competition for Programming ACM-ARABELLA-CPC at Jordan University of Science and Technology
The Vice President of Jordan University of Science and Technology, Prof Osama Nsair, sponsored the activities of the local competition for programming, ACM-ARABELLA-CPC, hosted by the College of Computer and Information Technology at the university.
Prof. Nsair stressed that the university is putting all its potential for the competition to succeed and achieve its objectives. That will have a great impact on raising the efficiency of the Jordanian programmers and enhancing their competitiveness in the local, regional and international markets. In addition, Prof. Nsair highlighted the fact that the university is giving special care for outstanding students, and is supporting research and scientific studies related to the computer network systems.
The competition which is considered as one of the competitions approved by the International Institution "ACM", witnessed the participation of 57 teams from public and private universities all over Jordan. Those universities were Jordan University of Science and Technology, Irbid National University, Jadra University, Balqa Applied University, Zarqa National University, Hashemite University, Ajloun National University, and Yarmouk University.
Dr. Yahya Tachtosh, a faculty member at the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology, said that the competition was aimed at raising the level of students in programming and enhancing the spirit of competition and organized work through working as one team.
It is worth mentioning that the competition is of three different levels: local- at the level of Jordan, Arab, and international levels. In addition, the competition provides the winners with opportunities to work in the grand companies that are specialized in information technology.
At the end of the competition, which was attended by the President of the Association of Jordanian Programmers, Dr. Ashraf Kadoumi, Dr. Nsaier crowned the winners. The results of the competition were as follows:
The "Sky Team" team from Jordan University of Science and Technology came first. The "Code Geeks" team from Jordan University of Science and Technology came second, and the "Rage_ HU" team from the Hashemite University came third.
