The Vice President of the Jordan University of Science and Technology, Dr. Mohammed Ibbini, met with Professor Rachael Jonassen from the George Washington University in the presences of the Dean of Graduate Studies School, the Dean of Research School, the Dean of Architecture and Design, and Dr. Jaser Mahasneh the director of Engineering Projects Unit.
During the meeting, several means and methods of enhancing collaboration between the two universities was discussed. The delegates discussed the energy challenges in Jordan with respect to the refugee problems. Also, they discussed encouraging faculty members to cooperate in student and faculty members exchange between the two Universities
The delegates agreed on developing a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in sustainable urban planning, refugee responses, climate, water, and energy issues and exchange of students, with the first students from GWU to arrive at JUST in spring 2019. Also, facilitating the production of new curricula to prepare Jordanian students to better address international climate change challenges that are likely to exacerbate refugee flows and to share with peers from other countries the Jordanian experience responding to refugee needs. Moreover, organizing a startup workshop for the refugee projects donors and researchers at JUST on April. The workshop aims to improve the coordination between JUST and possible Donors and to solicit the Refugee collaboration viewpoints.
