In the 2023 QS International Conference, Professor Khalid El-Salem shared facts, expressed opinion and answered the audience questions about the role of research in bridging the gap between universities, as knowledge transfer institutes, and the industry. He stressed the fact that university-community engagement is not charity work. It should be part of the universities strategic plans and what universities should be for. El Salem shared the success stories of JUST in the field of research and community partnerships. The conference, held in Kuwait, was attended by presidents of regional and international universities. It addressed different issues related to the future of universities in the Middle East and North Africa.
