Jordan University of Science and Technology Introduces a Master's Program in Pharmacology and Experimental Therapies
The President of Jordan University of Science and Technology, Prof. Khalid El-Salem, said that the Higher Education Council approved the creation of a master's program in "Pharmacology and Experimental Therapies" in the Faculty of Pharmacy, starting from the next academic year.
El-Salem indicated that the program is the first of its kind at the level of local Jordanian universities, and that the development of this program falls within the university's policy to keep pace with modern disciplines and sciences, stressing that the labor market's need for competencies and expertise in the fields of pharmacology and experimental treatments has constituted the main motive for the development of this program.
In turn, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Sayer Al-Azzam, said that the introduction of the specialization came to achieve a lot of knowledge among students, represented in enabling students to know the details of different drug groups, and to explain the different aspects of pharmacokinetics and drug dynamics. In addition to enabling students to understand the main principles and methods of research in experimental therapies from several aspects, such as drug discovery and early stages of development, drug development tools, and topics related to drug metabolism, toxicity and efficacy.
