Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) celebrated Arbor Day by planting olive trees
Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) celebrated Arbor Day by planting olive trees across an area of approximately 10 dunams within the university campus. This initiative aimed to enhance green spaces, promote environmental awareness, and align with the national strategy. In 2024 alone, nearly 5,000 trees were planted.
Professor Ahmad Al-Ajlouni, the university's Vice President, who attended the event as the representative of President Professor Khaled El-Salem, stated that the university's participation in Arbor Day symbolizes its commitment to the nation and its belief in the importance of vegetation in improving the campus's aesthetic appeal, as well as its vital role in enhancing the environment and climate. He also reaffirmed the university's dedication to serving the local community through supporting tree planting efforts in various areas beyond the campus.
The event, organized by the university's Public Services and Agricultural Production Unit, was attended by the university's vice presidents, deans of colleges, faculty and administrative staff members, and students, underscoring the significance of cooperation within the university community to achieve sustainable development and protect the environment.
