Awareness Activity of “Don’t be deceived….they are all harmful,” in celebration of the World No Tobacco at Jordan University of Science and Technology
The Faculty of Nursing at the Jordan University of Science and Technology, in cooperation with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, organized an awareness event entitled “Don't be deceived….they are all harmful," in celebration of the World No Tobacco Day.
The event aimed to raise awareness among students and the university community about the dangers of smoking and its negative effects on public health, in addition to highlighting the importance of quitting this harmful habit. Many instructions and advice were also provided on how to quit smoking through interactive activities and educational experiences that stimulate positive change and support smokers in their journey towards quitting smoking and enjoying a healthy life.
A number of experts and specialists from the King Hussein Cancer Foundation participated in the event, who gave lectures that included a detailed explanation of the harms of smoking and its effects on the body, in addition to a review of the support programs provided by the center to help in quitting smoking. Awareness brochures containing important information about smoking and its impact on human health were also distributed
Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Professor Laila Akhu -Zahia, emphasized that this event is part of the Faculty of Nursing's executive plan, which stems from the university's strategic plan to achieve sustainable health goals and is part of the Faculty's ongoing efforts to spread health culture among students and enhance their role in community awareness. She added that the cooperation with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation reflects the university's commitment to active participation in public health issues, especially combating smoking, which is one of the most prominent causes of many diseases.
A number of participating students expressed their appreciation for the event, stressing that it provided them with valuable information about the health risks of smoking and how to quit.
At the end of the event, shields Awards were exchanged and the project organizers and participants were honored.
