Jordan University of Science and Technology participates in a consensus workshop to survey and review documents related to epidemiological monitoring in Jordan



23 April / Jordan University of Science and Technology participated in a consensus workshop to present a report to inspect and review policies, strategies, legislation and guides for the survey and review of documents related to epidemiological monitoring in Jordan, held by the National Center for the Control of Epidemiology and communicable diseases.

The workshop included a presentation of standard working procedures related to the monitoring of epidemics, communicable and common diseases, and environmental threats related to health within the single health approach, in order to achieve the objectives of the survey, in cooperation with the national implementing body of the Jordanian University of Science and Technology.

The head of the center, Dr. Adel al-Balbisi, pointed to the efforts and cooperation of the main partners in various national institutions to hold this workshop, explaining the role of the center as the direct relationship and the basis for dealing with the potential sources of monitoring communicable diseases and epidemics that may result from them.

Al-Balbisi praised the role of experts at the Jordanian University of Science and Technology for their great efforts in implementing this review, all partners who have played a significant role in technical support for the implementation of this review, members of the technical committee, and all those who participated in meetings and interviews with expertise and specialists.

During the workshop, the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Nehaya Al-Sheyab, explained that a desk review was conducted for all 123 documents and documents related to infectious diseases and their causes, and associated environmental risks through the mechanisms of investigation and search for all published and unpublished references and documents from multiple sources.

She pointed out that 14 stakeholders were interviewed, including ministries such as health, agriculture, water, irrigation and the environment, various institutions working in the field of epidemiological monitoring, in addition to partners working in this field, in cooperation with the relevant national institutions.

She added that a systematic, both quantitative and qualitative analysis has been conducted to extract gaps and obstacles related to policies, strategies, guidance and laws related to the epidemiological monitoring of infectious diseases and their causes, pointing to a set of advice and guidance that help in this regard, based on this analysis and desk review.
