Jordan University of Science and
Technology signed cooperation with the Jordanian Association of
Optometrists, and the Jordanian Optometric Syndicate. This came within
the framework of a joint partnership and the development of the
university’s skills in optical sectors, including meeting the
requirements of the labor market.
The
agreement was signed on behalf of the university by Professor
Dr.Basheer Khassawneh, Vice President, and on behalf of the Jordanian
Association of Optometrists by the Association’s President, Mr. Nizar
Damaty, while it was signed on behalf of the Jordanian Optometric
Syndicate by the President of the Syndicate, Mr. Muammar Abu Khalaf, in
the presence of the Dean of the Applied Medical Sciences, Professor
Nihayat Al-Sheyab, and Dr.Areej Al-Atoum, Assistant Dean of the faculty.
The
agreement aims to train students specializing in vision testing at the
university, and provide them with the necessary scientific and practical
skills, in addition to enhancing cooperation in the fields of
scientific research and exchanging experiences between the three
parties. The agreement also includes organizing workshops, conferences,
and scientific seminars on the latest technologies and programs in the
field of optics. In addition to providing ongoing training and
qualification programs.
Khassawneh
stressed the importance of this agreement in enhancing cooperation
between the university and professional institutions, pointing to the
university’s pioneering role in developing the academic and professional
skills of its students, explaining that the agreement comes within the
university’s strategy to enhance students’ opportunities for training
and engagement in the labor market.
The
Dean of the Applied Medical Sciences, Professor Nihaya Al Sheyab,
stressed the importance of the agreement in increasing the number and
diversity of training places for students in the optometry program to
cover practical and clinical skills and to keep pace with the
requirements of the local and regional market and the continuous
development the sector is witnessing.
Damaty
praised the role of Jordan University of Science and Technology in
qualifying distinguished students, stressing the association’s
commitment to providing the necessary support to ensure qualitative and
effective training.
In turn, Abu Khalaf
stated that the Syndicate will work to ensure the commitment of licensed
optometry centers to provide the required training in accordance with
the agreed upon standards, in order to achieve the objectives of the
agreement.
