Jordan University of Science and Technology Hosts the National Conference "Mechanisms for Activating the Political Participation of Female AcademiCs and Educators"

Under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Jordanian Senate, Dr. Faisal Al-Fayez, Jordan University of Science and Technology, in cooperation with the Al-Hayat Center - Rased, held a national conference entitled “Mechanisms for Activating the Political Participation of Female Academics and Educators,” with the participation of a group of female academics from various universities and educational leaders from the Ministry of Education.

The President of the Jordanian Senate, Dr. Faisal Al-Fayez, said in his speech during the opening ceremony that the issue of women’s participation in decision-making is a controversial topic that attracts the attention of activists in the field of democracy and human rights. Whoever advances is still modest. His Excellency added that despite the studies that have been conducted on women's political participation, and the seminars and conferences that have been held, the progress that has been made is still modest.

In turn, the President of Jordan University of Science and Technology, Prof. Khalid El-Salem said that today we are talking about mechanisms of empowerment for Jordanian women in all fields, and this means that societal awareness has grown for us to reach a firm conviction of the importance of the role of women in the sustainable development process, and all of this would not have been possible without the royal attention that represents the starting points and a roadmap for the legislative and executive authorities towards a building based on legislation and regulating laws that contributed to changing the traditional patterns of behavior that were prevalent in our social structure.

El-Salem added that the contribution made by the university today to the implementation and success of this conference stems from the university’s belief in the necessity of implementing the outputs of the royal committee to modernize the political system, and a national duty that falls on the university’s shoulders, stressing that the university will remain present in the process of political modernization.
