As part of the College of Computer and Information Technology’s efforts to support outstanding students and develop their programming and problem-solving skills, the college organized an internal programming competition for its students. The goal was to select and prepare teams and students to participate in the National Programming Competition, which is held annually at the start of the academic year, which is considered one of the most prominent academic competitions specializing in programming and algorithms among Jordanian universities.

The competition saw broad participation from the college’s students, with 75 male and female students from various majors taking part in a highly competitive atmosphere that reflected the students’ growing interest in competitive programming and algorithmic thinking. The competition lasted for three consecutive hours, during which participants worked to solve ten advanced programming problems requiring high-level skills in logical analysis, mathematical algorithm design, time management, and working under pressure.

The competition problems were carefully prepared and written by a group of experts and specialists in the field of programming competitions at both the local and global levels. Engineer Mohamed Al-Kilani from Amazon and Engineer Mohamed Abu Amara from Google in preparing the questions, alongside students Abdullah Barakat and Malek Sadaka, who contributed to writing and judging the problems. This helped raise the level of challenge and the quality of the competition in line with internationally recognized standards for programming competitions.

The Computing Technology Club team also helped organize the competition’s activities and oversee its proceedings, with club members preparing the venues, monitoring the teams, and providing logistical and organizational support to the participants. This contributed to the event’s success and presented it in an outstanding manner that reflected the spirit of cooperation and teamwork within the college.

A team of graduating seniors from the JUST ACM Student Chapter also participated in the judging process and the review of programming solutions, under the supervision of Dr. Malak Abdullah. Drawing on their prior experience in programming competitions, the seniors helped create a professional competitive environment for the participating students, in addition to providing guidance and advice to help them develop their skills and prepare for future competitions.

At the conclusion of the competition, the top ten finishers were honored with medals and trophies in recognition of their excellence and outstanding performance during the competition. The results were as follows:

First Place: Ibrahim Al-Rabie

Second Place: Omar Ali

Third Place: Sharaf Makahla

Fourth Place: Ayham Al-Salman

Fifth Place: Muhammad Al-Saleh

Sixth Place: Saleh Al-Naji

Seventh Place: Muhammad Bani Khalid

Eighth Place: Salem Al-Nawi

Ninth Place: Yassin Hussein

Tenth Place: Ahmad Rajoub

The Dean of the College, Prof. Munir Bani Yassin, praised the outstanding level demonstrated by the students during the competition, emphasizing that such events significantly contribute to developing students’ technical capabilities and enhancing their analytical and creative thinking skills, in addition to preparing them to compete in national and international forums. He also emphasized the college’s ongoing commitment to supporting scientific and programming activities that positively impact students’ academic and professional development and help them keep pace with rapid advancements in technology and computer science.

This competition is part of a series of activities and programs organized by the college to foster a culture of competitive programming among students and encourage them to participate in local and international competitions, thereby helping to represent the university with distinction and achieve further accomplishments in this field.
