Students from the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) participated in the regional programming competition covering the Arab world and African countries ACPC, which was held in Luxor, Egypt from 6 to 10 December.

The university was represented by three teams that won outstanding achievements in the Jordanian Coding Competition (JCPC) in October, where they won first, fourth and fifth places at the Jordanian level, earning them qualification for the regional competition.

The participating teams are:

  • ‘My Back Hurts’ team: Ahmed Suleiman, Ibrahim Al-Rabea, Munther Abu Zeina
  • ‘La Tetmada’ team: Mohammed Al-Qaryouti, Omar Ali, Ryan Al-Omari
  • ‘Helix’ team: Ali Omar, Yassin Hussein, Sharaf Makahleh

The ACPC competition witnessed wide participation from more than 130 teams from different universities in the Arab world and Africa, where teams competed in solving complex programming problems that require high skills in algorithms and the application of mathematical concepts. This type of competition is an opportunity to test the abilities of students in developing innovative solutions to complex technical and technological issues.

The University of Science and Technology of Jordan achieved the sixteenth place in the Arab world and Africa and the second place in Jordan in the ACPC competition. This achievement enhances the chances of qualifying for the 2025 ICPC, adding to the university's series of distinguished successes.

In a related context, the Dean of the College of Computer and Information Technology, Prof. Mounir Bani Yassin, expressed his pride in the efforts exerted by the students and the trainer, praising their intensive preparations and hard work to participate in this competition. Bani Yassin emphasised the importance of participating in such events to highlight the capabilities of students and raise the university's name high in international forums.
