Participation of the College of Computer and Information Technology in the Media and Information Literacy Conference 2024
A delegation of faculty members and students from the College of Computer and Information Technology (Jordan University of Science and Technology) participated in the global conference organized by UNESCO and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Amman on October 30 and 31, Media and Information Literacy 2024: “New Digital Frontiers of Information: Media and Information Literacy for the Public Interest”.
The conference addressed the impact that emerging technologies such as generative artificial intelligence and the new generation of digital content creators are having on the production and dissemination of information, highlighting the opportunities these technologies present and the risks they pose.
World Media and Information Literacy Week was observed worldwide this year from October 24-31, 2024, and culminated in a global conference organized by UNESCO and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on October 30-31 in Amman, Jordan. The conference addressed the impact that emerging technologies such as generative artificial intelligence and the new generation of digital content creators are having on the production and dissemination of information, highlighting the opportunities these technologies present and the risks they pose.
The conference also emphasized the importance of keeping up with the rapidly evolving digital landscape as well as the importance of equipping users with the skills to identify, evaluate and deal with public interest information online.
