A scientific visit by students of the Computer Science Department at the Jordan University of Science and Technology to the Arabia Weather Company
Within the framework of effective interaction between students and the labor market, and under the guidance of Professor Dr. Munir Musaedeh, Dean of the College of Computer and Information Technology, the Department of Computer Science at the Jordan University of Science and Technology organized a fruitful scientific visit to the Arabia Weather Company in Amman. This activity comes within a series of initiatives that the college aims to encourage students to explore their specializations and understand the requirements of the labor market in the fields of advanced information technology.
The visit was supervised by Dr. Malak Abdullah, Head of the Computer Science Department, and included introductory activities on how to analyze weather data and forecast weather conditions. As part of the visit, engineer Yazan Shank, responsible for the company’s artificial intelligence and machine learning department, presented a joint workshop with the students that lasted for two hours, covering aspects of data collection and analysis, in addition to programming the system based on artificial intelligence for weather forecasts.
The tour was continued with Ms. Souad Ratrout, who led the visit to the weather forecasts’ media headquarters, where data is analyzed and forecasts are formulated. The students expressed their happiness and gratitude for this valuable educational experience, which contributed to enhancing their understanding of the practical applications of their specializations. The visit also revealed programming languages and necessary tools in the fields of artificial intelligence and data analysis.
Dr. Mounir, Dean of the College, praised this effective initiative, stressing the importance of directing efforts towards motivating students and preparing them for the increasing requirements of the labor market, in order to achieve a successful career in the field of information technology, computer science, and artificial intelligence.
