Jordan University of Science and Technology won the first, the third, and the fourth places in the "CTFjo" competition.
Three teams from the College of Computer and Information Technology at Jordan University of Science and Technology won the first, second, and third positions in the CTFJO Cyber Security Third Edition 2021, which was recently held at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority-Amman, Jordan.
The winners were also honored under the patronage of the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Engineer Bassam Al-Sarhan, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Computer and Information Technology, Prof. Ismail Al-Hamidi, Deputy Dean Prof. Muhannad Qwaider, and Head of the Network Engineering and Security Department, Dr. Omar Al-Jarrah, at the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority building.
The three teams included students from the Department of Network Engineering and Security, students Abdul Aziz Rashidat, Bilal Al-Qurna, Saif Al-Mashqabeh, Hisham Abu Bakr, Anas Shalloul, Laith Faouri, Muhammad Filaila, Muhammad Atari, Murad Hamed, Osama Al-Momani, Muhammad Mhaidat, Hassan Abu Sa`ilik, and Osama. Al-Sharif, Suhaib Kanaan, Omar Ababneh, Ali Qassem, Bassem Hamad, Malik Tawfiq, Yanal Abu Chinese, Yazid Al-Khalayleh, Moaz Hamarsha and Mahmoud Al-Mazari.
The competition is considered a modern and effective educational and training method, and it also helps in measuring the extent of the competitors' knowledge in the field of cybersecurity, and their abilities in discovering and filling security gaps.
It is worth noting that 35 teams from the following universities participated in the tournament:
1. Jordan University of Science and Technology.
2. Princess Sumaya University for Technology.
3. Philadelphia University.
4. Mutah University.
5. Yarmouk University.
6. Al al-Bayt University.
7. Al-Hussein Technical University.
8. Al-Ahliyya Amman University.
9. University of Petra.
10. Al-Balqa' Applied University.
In turn, the President of the University, Prof. Khaled Al-Salem, congratulated the winning students and everyone who contributed to this achievement, praising the students’ efforts and their quest to participate in competitions that support their scientific career, refine their practical skills, and enhance their spirit of innovation and creativity.
Prof. Al-Salem added that the Jordan University of Science and Technology is on its way to leading a major transformation to support and nurture innovators from both the university and the local community because it also realizes the importance of innovation by participating in science competitions.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Computer and Information Technology, Prof. Ismail Al-Hamidi, expressed his pride in the achievement of his request from the college's advanced positions in the championship. He added that the College of Computer and Information Technology always strives for excellence and highlights the role of his university as a local and global leader in the field of cybersecurity.
