Jordan University of Science and Technology achieved a remarkable feat by winning first place in the

FutureMinds: Solve for Jordan

competition, organized by PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers Jordan), with the participation of elite students from three universities: the Jordan University of Science and Technology, Princess Sumaya University for Technology, and Al-Hussein Technical University.

The competition consisted of several stages designed to test students’ skills in programming and innovation by presenting practical solutions to real-world national challenges. The first stage focused on solving programming problems, while the second stage was a hackathon centered on developing innovative technical solutions.

The winning team from the Jordan University of Science and Technology consisted of students Omar Ali, Omar Al-Tamimi, Moataz Awaqla, and Fares Alawnah, under the supervision of Dr. Malak Abdullah. The team presented an innovative project that impressed the judging panel. During the hackathon, they were tasked with designing a comprehensive solution to support the national soccer team, which had qualified for the World Cup, by providing technical and organizational solutions that would enhance performance and meet logistical and technical needs.

​In related news, Al-Amin Sabah, a student, took second place in the three-hour programming challenge. This achievement reflects the university’s students' outstanding caliber.

The Dean of the College of Computer and Information Technology, Prof. Dr. Munir Bani Yassin, expressed pride in and appreciation for this achievement. He praised the students' spirit of innovation and teamwork, emphasizing that their success reflects the college’s strategy of supporting applied projects and linking the educational process to societal and job market needs. He also affirmed the college’s continued support for student and faculty participation in competitions and events at the local and international levels.

Michel Orfali, PwC’s representative in Jordan, commended the students from the Jordan University of Science and Technology for their exceptional performance, praising their advanced technical skills and innovative ideas. He noted that the students’ performance during the competition reflected remarkable professionalism and a distinctive competitive spirit, making them role models for applying knowledge to solve real-world problems.

The competition organizers also praised the students' professional caliber, technical skills, and innovative ideas, emphasizing that these results reflect the quality of educational outcomes and strengthen opportunities for future collaboration between the university and its partners, particularly PwC.
