Prof. Munir Bani Yassin, the Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology at Jordan University of Science and Technology, and Prof. Moad Mowafi, the Vice Dean, participated in a scientific field visit organized by the Higher Education Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission to the Aqaba Digital Hub. They were part of a delegation that included deans of information technology colleges and representatives of Jordanian universities.
The visit began at the Aqaba University of Technology, where the president of the university, Dr. Mohammad Hassan Al-Washah, welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between universities and national entities involved in the technology sector. The delegation had extensive discussions with the Authority's Vice President, Dr. Saad Bani Mohammed, about developing digital academic programs, improving practical training for students, and promoting professional certification among faculty.
Afterwards, the delegation toured Aqaba Digital City. They received an introduction to its advanced infrastructure, facilities, and digital services. They also reviewed the most prominent projects that serve the national digital transformation process. The city's team gave presentations on operating digital platforms and the opportunities they offer universities in education, scientific research, and technical training.
Aqaba Digital City: A Pioneering National Project
Inaugurated by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II earlier this year, the Aqaba Digital City project is one of the largest and most ambitious national digital projects. It features:
- Jordan's largest data center, operating in accordance with Tier III international standards;
- Advanced infrastructure supporting cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and the internet.

At the conclusion of the tour, Prof. Munir Bani Yassin, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Accreditation Commission for its efforts in organizing this valuable visit, as well as to Aqaba University of Technology for its warm welcome and excellent hospitality. He emphasized the importance of continuing these meetings and strengthening scientific and technical cooperation between Jordanian universities, thereby contributing to the development of digital programs and the advancement of national competencies in the fields of technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
