IRBID — The 16th International Conference on Information and Communication Systems (ICICS2025) kicked off , Tuesday, July 1, 2025, under the patronage of Prof. Khaled Al-Salem, President of the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), and with wide participation from researchers and experts from around the world. The conference is organized by the College of Computer and Information Technology (CIT) and chaired by Prof. Mounir Bani Yassin.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Bani Yassin expressed the university's pride in hosting this annual scientific event, a leading international platform for knowledge exchange and discussion of the latest research in artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, cybersecurity, 5G networks, data science, and other advanced topics.
He mentioned that this year's conference received 100 research papers, which underwent a rigorous review process by specialized committees. The best papers were chosen to be presented during three days of parallel scientific sessions, which include a variety of academic discussions and quality lectures.
The IEEE Jordan Section supports the conference in a scientific partnership that reflects the organization's pioneering role in promoting scientific research and ICT development in the region.
On the sidelines of the conference, Dr. Bani Yassin inaugurated an exhibition of college students' graduation projects, showcasing a distinguished group of student innovations judged by specialized committees. The exhibition showcased students' applied skills and demonstrated the relevance of educational outcomes to technological development.
The conference's keynote speaker, Prof. Mohammed Amin Al-Jarrah, the general manager of MARS Robotics, delivered a lecture entitled:
"Drones: Flying Saviors or Skybound Threats?"
He discussed advanced drone applications in rescue, surveillance, and remote sensing, as well as the security and technical challenges associated with their development and proliferation.
At the end of the first day, Dr. Mounir Bani Yassin emphasized that holding the conference with such scientific and organizational momentum reflects the university's vision under President Prof. Khaled Al-Salem's leadership and his constant support of scientific research and innovation. He noted that the college continues to strengthen the university's position as a global center of technical and knowledge excellence.
