The Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmed Al-Hanandah, opened an introductory workshop on the ISO/IEC 42001 quality standard for the artificial intelligence management system, in the presence of more than 80 participants interested in the field of artificial intelligence from various sectors, including representatives of the public and private sectors, researchers, academics, and representatives of chambers, trade and industry, and others.

The workshop aims to introduce the participants to the concept of the ISO 42001 standard and its importance, explain the requirements of the standards and best practices for their application, and enable participants to understand how to use the ISO 42001 standard to improve the management of artificial intelligence systems in their institutions, based on the role of the Ministry of Digital Economy and leadership in enhancing awareness of the field of artificial intelligence and its keenness to maintain The relevant authorities are aware of the latest developments in this field.

For his part, Al-Hanandah stressed, during the opening of the workshop, the importance of artificial intelligence as one of the most important drivers of change in the modern era, noting that the Ministry pays great attention to developing this field and enhancing its use in various sectors as an effective tool to improve the management of artificial intelligence systems and make them safer, more reliable and effective. He recommended to the participants the necessity of Spreading awareness about the ISO 42001 standard and encouraging their institutions to implement it, which will contribute to developing the field of artificial intelligence in the Kingdom.

The College of Computer and Information Technology participated in this workshop, represented by the Deputy Dean, Dr. Qanita Bani Baker, and the Quality Assurance Officer at the College, Engineer Areej Bataineh.​​

​​It is noteworthy that the ISO/IEC 42001 standard is the first international standard for the artificial intelligence management system, which was issued in December 2023 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in cooperation with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) to help organizations design, implement, deploy and use artificial intelligence systems.
