Students and graduates of Jordan University of Science and Technology achieved advanced positions in the finals of the Black Hat MEA 2023 CTF global information security competition

Students and graduates of the College of Computer and Information Technology (Department of Computer Network Engineering and Security and Department of Computer Engineering) at Jordan University of Science and Technology achieved advanced positions in the finals of the Black Hat MEA 2023 CTF global information security competition, which was held in Riyadh - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after 250 teams from More than 90 countries.

The winning team, ranked 22nd globally, included:

- Muhammad Al-Falaila (student at the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

- Abdul Aziz Irsheidat (graduate of the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

- Bilal Al-Qarna (graduate of the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

- Saif Al-Mashaqbeh (graduate of the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

- Hisham Abu Bakr (graduate of the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

The winning team, ranked 28th globally, included:

- Ahmed Al-Omari (student at the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

- Hashem Al-Salhi (student at the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

- Laith Al-Gharaibeh (student at the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

- Osama Al-Sharif (graduate of the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

The winning team, ranked 54th globally, included:

- Yanal Abu Sini (student at the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

- Anas Shaloul (graduate of the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

- Obadah Nafi (graduate of the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

- Malik Tawfiq (graduate of the Jordan University of Science and Technology)

The winning team, ranked 63rd globally, included:

- Bishr Al-Azza (student at the Jordan University of Science and Technology)


This competition is one of the events of the Black Hat Global Information Security Conference, and this participation is considered the third in a row for students of the Jordan University of Science and Technology in this annual competition, as the university team won thirteenth place globally in the years 2021 and 2022.

These results come as a result of the hard work and perseverance undertaken by the students and reflect the academic and technical excellence that the college’s students strive for. In this context, the Dean of the College, Professor Mounir Masaada, praised the students’ performance, stressing the college and university’s financial and moral support for the students to achieve outstanding achievements. This achievement demonstrates the college’s continuity in achieving tangible successes and enhances its reputation as one of the pioneers in the field of technology and engineering.
