Computer Science Department Organises Programming Competition for Junior Students
05 Jan 2025

In a move aimed at encouraging and developing students' programming skills, the Department of Computer Science organised a special programming competition for first-year students. This initiative resulted in the selection of a group of students with exceptional programming skills and the ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and efficiently. The competition was designed to enhance students' knowledge and make them more equipped with the necessary skills to face challenges in this evolving field.

The competition consisted of nine different programming problems that were carefully formulated by the outstanding programming students of JUST ACM Student Chapter under the supervision of Dr Malak Abdullah. About 50 first-year students participated in the competition, reflecting the students' great interest in participating in computing activities.

The Dean of the College of Computer and Information Technology, Prof. Mounir Bani Yassin, praised the efforts exerted by the organising team, and commended the intensive training that took place throughout the first semester. The training lasted for four months, with weekly training sessions and competitions covering more than 70 programming issues, which were carefully prepared by the programming team responsible for organising the coding competitions. This remarkable effort contributes to preparing students well for competition and developing their programming skills, as a result of which the University of Science and Technology of Jordan won first place in the recent JCPC competitions at the level of Jordanian universities.

The Head of the Computer Science Department, Dr Ahmad Al-Zoubi, facilitated all procedures related to the training and competition, and expressed his belief in the importance of enhancing cooperation between students and promoting the spirit of positive competition among them. The event witnessed an atmosphere of enthusiasm and interaction among the students.
