Participation of the College of Computer and Information Technology in the Open Day for Women in Engineering
In
the context of enhancing the role of women in the fields of engineering
and technology, a group of male and female faculty members from the
College of Computer and Information Technology at the Jordan University
of Science and Technology participated in the open day for the women in
engineering community, organized by IEEE Women in Engineering, Jordan
Branch, to highlight the positive impact of women in engineering. This
is a vital area. The event was sponsored by Eng. Amani Al-Azzam,
Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and
the event witnessed a notable presence of male and female students
interested in engineering and technology specializations. The events
included the presentation of a group of innovative technological
projects.
Student Muhar Ziyad
from the Department of Computer Science at the Jordan University of
Science and Technology, under the supervision of Dr. Malak Abdullah, won first place in the “Innovative Technologies for Women to Achieve Work-Life Balance” competition
and a financial prize of one hundred dinars, which was organized by the
IEEE WIE Jordan Section at the level of Jordanian universities. , for
her project “Laventer”.
The
"Laventer" project aims to support working women by enabling them to
organize their time and know the events around them, enabling them to
participate in community activities effectively. This project reflects
the spirit of innovation and commitment to facilitating the lives of
women in various fields of work.
This
participation comes as part of the efforts of the Jordan University of
Science and Technology to support and enhance the status of women in
engineering and technology professions and to encourage young women to
explore the opportunities available in these fields.
