Dean's welcome speech

      At the beginning of this academic year 2023-2024, I am pleased to welcome the teaching and administrative staff in the College of Arts and Sciences, and our students who came to the university from our beloved Jordan and from around the world. Welcome to your country and your university, the jewel of Jordanian universities.

         The College of Arts and Sciences is one of the most important colleges of the university, where students from various majors come to it to learn the basic sciences that contribute to building the student's personality, open horizons and minds, develop in them a love of knowledge, gain good morals and behavior that befits a university student, and pave the way for them to comfortably receive the curricula of their specific majors.

     The College of Arts and Sciences was and still is the most important pillar in the path of excellence, development and creativity.

     The college consist of six departments in applied sciences, five of them grant bachelor and master degrees, and the sixth one offers all compulsory and elective university courses. In this department, students learn the humanities that address their minds, talents, love, and belonging to the homeland and their society, and teach them the feeling of belonging and strengthen it in their souls so that they remain in continuous contact with their community that originated from, and they serve it.

The six departments that the college includes under its wings are:

1- Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering.

2- Department of Applied Chemical Sciences.

3- Department of English for Applied Studies.

4- Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

5- Department of Applied Physics.

6- Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities.

         The college continues to be recognized worldwide by reprogramming the education system and updating plans and curricula to stay with scientific developments and modern teaching methods, based on the basic foundation of using educational technology, and through cooperation and development globally and locally. The college is working to obtain international accreditation for all its departments, and in an effort to do so, the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering has obtained the German (ASIIN) certificate for the bachelor's program has been approved on 10/21/2019. The Department of Applied Chemical Sciences obtained the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) accreditation certificate for the bachelor's program on 10/6​/2020. In addition, the Departments of Applied Physics and Department Mathematics and Statistics applied for international accreditation ABET during this year. This translates the excellent performance of the college's employees and reveals insight into engaging students as partners in learning rather than just recipients of knowledge.

       We at the College of Science appreciate the efforts of faculty members who work hard to present science with the best means and methods, and to update it as required by the situation and the current situation.

      I would like to inform you that the faculty members in the College of Arts and Sciences obtained their academic degrees from the most prestigious and best Arab and international universities, which allowed our students to gain knowledge from different and multiple backgrounds and cultures with different references and are able to take and benefit from a distinguished education that is reflected in their performance and the application of their knowledge on the ground. Knowledge, destined to serve their people and their country in order to contribute to its progress, renaissance and prosperity, within the homeland dear to our hearts under the victorious Hashemite banner and its leader, His Majesty King Abdullah II, may God protect and preserve him, and in all sisterly and global countries.
