Dean’s Welcome Message
It gives me great pleasure to welcome, at the beginning of the 2025–2026 academic year, the faculty and administrative staff of the Faculty of Science and Arts, as well as our students who have come to the university from our beloved Jordan and from around the world. Welcome to your country and your university — the jewel of Jordanian universities.
The Faculty of Science and Arts is one of the most important faculties of the university. Students from various majors come here to learn the fundamental sciences which contribute to shaping their character, opening their minds and horizons, nurturing in them a love of learning, instilling proper morals and conduct befitting university students, and preparing them to study the specialized courses of their majors with complete ease.
The Faculty of Science and Arts has always been, and continues to be, one of the essential pillars in the university’s journey toward excellence, development, and creativity.
The Faculty includes six departments in the applied sciences — five of which offer both bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and one of which provides all the required and elective university courses. In this department, students study the humanities, which speak to their intellect, talents, love, and sense of belonging to their nation and community. These courses teach and reinforce the spirit of belonging, ensuring that students remain in continuous connection with the community they come from, serving it and contributing to its advancement and esteem among nations.
The six departments that the faculty includes are:
1- Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering.
2- Department of Applied Chemical Sciences.
3- Department of English for Applied Studies.
4- Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
5- Department of Applied Physics.
6- Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities.
The faculty diligently strives toward global excellence by reprogramming the educational system, updating plans and curricula to keep pace with scientific advancements and modern teaching methods, relying firmly on educational technology, and through international and local collaboration and benchmarking. The faculty works to obtain international accreditation for all its departments. In pursuit of this goal, the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering obtained the German (ASSIN) accreditation certificate for the bachelor’s program in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering on 21/10/2019. The Department of Applied Chemical Sciences obtained the Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) accreditation certificate for its bachelor’s program on 28/12/2020. In addition, the Department of Applied Physics and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics have received ABET international accreditation until 2028, while the Department of English for Applied Studies is currently seeking international accreditation. This reflects the high level of performance of the faculty’s staff and reveals their insightful efforts to engage students as partners in learning rather than merely recipients of knowledge.
We in the Faculty of Science and Arts value and appreciate the efforts of our faculty members who work diligently to deliver scientific knowledge using the best methods and continuously update it as needed by current circumstances.
I would also like to inform you that the faculty members in the Faculty of Science and Arts have earned their academic degrees from the finest Arab and international universities. This has allowed our students to learn from diverse intellectual traditions and cultural backgrounds, enabling them to benefit from distinguished education that is reflected in their performance and in their application of scientific knowledge in real-world settings. They carry the torch of knowledge forward to serve their families and homeland, contributing to its progress, renaissance, and prosperity — within our beloved nation under the victorious Hashemite banner and the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, may God protect and preserve him, and across all brotherly and global nations.
