This course aims to study contrastive analysis as a general approach to the investigation of language, particularly as carried on in certain areas of applied linguistics, such as foreign language teaching and translation, where the points of structural difference between two languages are identified, and those are then studied as areas of potential difficulty in foreign language learning.
