Department of Applied Chemical Sciences
The Department was established under the Faculty of Science & Arts in January 26, 1987, and commenced its duties as of September 1, 1987 which was limited to offering service courses required by other faculties of the University. The Department started its B.Sc. program in Applied Chemistry in 1989 and M.Sc. program in 1996.
The Department offers the traditional sequence of undergraduate chemistry courses with relatively few undergraduate electives, however, the Department offers 9 technical courses which, makes it a unique chemistry program in Jordan. The B.Sc. in Applied Chemical Sciences is awarded to the student after the successful completion of (130) credit hours.
The Department offers a research-based Masters degree (requiring thesis) with emphasis in any of the five traditional areas of chemistry (analytical, inorganic, organic, physical chemistry and biochemistry). The Department also offers non-thesis Masters Degrees with comprehensive exam.
| Research: The Department staff are highly qualified and specialized in different fields of Chemistry including Analytical, Bio, Industrial, Organic, Physical, Inorganic, Polymer and Theoretical.
The Department staff is actively engaged in research on subjects of both academic and technical interests. They are also in close and active cooperation with their colleagues in other universities both local and international.
