Course Description

The material covered in this course is a description of the tools at the disposal of the synthetic chemist, consisting of the extensive catalog of reactions and the associated information on such issues as stereochemistry and mutual reactivity. The main theme of this course is to introduce the student to multisteps reactions and synthesis of mono and polyfunctionalized organic compounds. Also, it is designed to help the student to propose a logic sequence of chemical steps to prepare complex molecules based on retro synthesis and mechanisms of organic reactions.
