It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Faculty of Pharmacy at
Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) website. As Dean, I am proud
to share information about our faculty.
The faculty of Pharmacy at JUST had a long tradition of excellence.
It was established in 1979 to offer undergraduate program in pharmacy (BSc),
and since then; a lot of changes continuously occurred to cope with changes in
pharmacy profession. Our faculty offers currently two undergraduate programs in
pharmacy (BSc in Pharmacy and Pharm D (doctor of pharmacy)), and three
master degree (MSc) programs in Pharmaceutical Technology, Clinical Pharmacy,
Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy. Each of our students has the scientific
background and clinical skills required to work in all pharmacy professions.
In
2000, pharm D (Doctor of Pharmacy) was introduced to our faculty as a
second academic credential that emphasizes on clinical skills required in the
health care system. The PharmD is a professional degree granted by the Faculty of Pharmacy. The PharmD is similar to the Bachelor degree in Pharmacy; in the fact that it is a first degree. The PharmD program is patient-oriented, with emphasis on pharmaceutical care including the preparation of pharmaceutical care plans, following up patient and detecting medication errors, dosing adjustments according to liver and kidney function tests, and detecting and managing drug-drug interactions and adverse drug reactions. This program is a unique program not only in Jordan, but also in the Arab region. It was designed to meet the accelerating need for such specialty in Jordan and the neighboring countries. Right now, we look forward to activate specialized residency
programs as post-professional Pharm D program.
The Department of Pharmaceutical Technology offers Doctor of Philosopy (PhD) program in Pharmaceutical technology. This program aims at providing the pharmaceutical industry and regulatory agencies with qualified scientists in different areas of pharmaceutical research including drug delivery, pharmacokinetics, stability, biotechnology and nanotechnolgy. Our graduates are capable of being involved in developing, optimizing, evaluating, and improving pharmaceutical product manufactring. Also, the graduates of our PhD program in Pharmaceutical Technology are qualified to perform cutting edge pharmaceutical research and teach in the academia in reputable local and international universities.
Acceptance to our pharmacy programs at JUST is highly competitive
with attracting environment to international students. Our students and staff
are outstanding and we believe that they will lead the change in pharmacy
professions and I encourage you to explore our website and learn more about our
faculty.
Sincerely,
