Physical Facilities at the Faculty of Pharmacy
The Faculty of Pharmacy at JUST offers state-of-the-art physical facilities designed to support high-quality education, research, and professional training. The infrastructure is well-equipped to accommodate both theoretical and practical learning experiences, ensuring an optimal environment for students and faculty members.
Classrooms and Lecture Halls
The faculty features eight classrooms (P1 101, P1 102, P1 103, D4 202, D4 203, PH2 104, M1 302, and M3 305) with capacities ranging from 59 to 124 seats. Additionally, there are two lecture halls: the North Hall (142 seats) and the South Hall (151 seats).
Meeting and Seminar Rooms
The faculty provides multiple spaces for meetings and discussions:
- Primary Meeting Rooms: Located at the Deanship and the Museum, both equipped with smart screens.
- Seminar Room: Capacity of 40 seats, furnished with a smart screen.
- Al-Kindi Room: Accommodates 60 seats and includes a smart screen.
The Museum contains more than two hundred medicinal plant species with a virtual specimen of the parts used. Each plant is labeled with its nomenclature, taxonomy, English common name, Latin binomial, plant family, Arabic name, main constituents, main pharmacological actions and common uses. The Museum also contains samples of herbal products as therapeutic agents, herbal teas and commercial natural drugs.
Teaching Laboratories
The faculty has specialized laboratories across different disciplines:
- Pharmaceutical Chemistry: Dedicated lab for pharmaceutical sciences.
- Clinical and Pharmacy Practice: Two clinical case labs, two simulation labs, and a simulation pharmacy, supporting various clinical skills and OSCE training.
- Pharmaceutical Technology: Two drug compounding labs, a Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology lab, and a Compounding of Sterile Preparations lab.
- Multipurpose Audiovisual Laboratories: Two labs designed for meetings, discussions, and interactive learning.
The clinical case labs, two simulation labs are equipped with sufficient number of state-of-the-art devices (computers, tablets, etc) and with an internet connection.
The simulation pharmacy replicates a real-world community pharmacy setting. It is equipped with desks, shelves, computers, printers, reference materials, and wireless connectivity, supporting undergraduate and clinical training.
The wet laboratories are equipped with advanced instruments, including balances, pH meters, dissolution apparatuses, UV-visible spectrophotometers, and other essential equipment for hands-on training.
Research Laboratories and Central Laboratory Facilities
The faculty maintains 16 research laboratories distributed across the medical complex, each equipped with essential research tools, network access, and climate control where needed. Additional high-end research equipment, including HPLC, UHPLC, FTIR spectrophotometers, elemental analysis instruments, and stability chambers, is available in the Central Laboratory (P3 L-2).
To strengthen ties with the pharmaceutical industry and to meet their demands for advanced basic research and clinical studies, the Pharmaceutical Research Center (PRC) established as an independent administrative unit supervised by and linked directly to the University President. It conducts pharmaceutical and clinical studies.
Additionally, Patient Counseling Office (PCO) in King Abdullah University Hospital (KAUH) was established aiming to increase awareness for patients who attend out-patient clinics at KAUH, and to provide full verbal and written pharmaceutical information regarding their medications and medical conditions.
