Recent advances in controlled drug delivery systems have been largely based on the advances in polymer chemistry.  This course will cover the basic polymer chemistry to understand how various polymers are used to make controlled release drug delivery systems as well as the recent advances in utilizing polymeric systems in the delivery of such genetically engineered protein drugs as human insulin, human growth hormone, interferons and vaccines.
