Course Description
Introduction to pharmacognosy and phytochemistry and includes the study of chemical groups such as glycosides, alkaloids,
volatile oils, terpenes and others. An extensive study of medicinal plants including their scientific names, natural products of
each plant group, the existence, parts used and their medical use. Methods of isolation, characterization of active herbal
compounds and their biological activities.
