This course is a Continuation of the practicum I experience. The practicum provides students with a practical and mentored experience in nursing management and leadership that offers the opportunity to integrate knowledge, skills and abilities learned throughout the course of study to nursing practice. This practicum takes place at the executive level of the nursing system. It provides an opportunity to become actively involved in the roles of nurse leader under the direction of an experienced nurse manager in a health care organization. Opportunities will be provided to participate in all phases of the nursing executive and managerial role.
Requirements include a written practicum plan with specified goals, outcomes and responsibilities developed by the student, and agreed to by the mentor, and course faculty. Students are expected to assume responsibility for one major project under the direction of the preceptor while fulfilling the requirements for the practicum.
