The aim of this course is to provide students with skills and knowledge to help them develop CNS roles in secondary and tertiary health care settings. The focus is on comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessment and on advanced assessment in areas of specialty (cardiopulmonary). Clinical nurse specialist roles of education, and in-patient management of acutely ill adult are emphasized. Multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of health care to the acutely ill adult is practiced. Students demonstrate clinical specialist roles of consultation, change agent, patient and staff education, patients advocacy, and consultation.
