Department of Special Surgery
I am pleased to introduce you to the Department of special surgery at the Jordan University of Science and technology. The department contains three divisions: orthopaedic, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology. We have a class faculty focused on exceptional patient care, top education, and targeted innovation to advance our field.
Education is at the core of all we do. We provide a nurturing and supportive environment while pushing our students and trainees to consistently perform at their best. Our faculty cover all subspecialties. Residents gain broad exposure, from the more straight-forward to the highly complex, rotating through every subspecialty as a junior and again as a senior, preparing each trainee to meet their ultimate career goals.
A varied and deep surgical experience is foundational to our teaching philosophy. Equally important are the decision-making skills gained in the clinical setting and the fundamental knowledge gained in our year-round didactics. We consciously foster leadership and teaching skills in all our trainees and provide opportunities to exercise both.
We appreciate your interest in our education and medical care, and welcome the opportunity to share more through our website and in person.
Thank you,
Rami Jahmani, MD

Five- year students spend a total of six weeks in Special surgery department, two weeks in each division (orthopaedic, ENT and ophthalmology). The goal of this experience is to provide students with an exposure to common problems and illnesses of each division. This is accomplished through clinical experiences in primary care clinics and practices, specialty clinics, nursery and inpatient unit. A specially designed didactic curriculum and case discussion series, with faculty tutors, enhance and solidify the clinical experience.

Formal teaching conferences as well as informal teaching rounds combined to enhance the educational process.
