This course examines the cellular mechanisms that mediate xenobiotic toxicity at the cellular, biochemical and molecular level. The course emphasizes the mechanisms through which toxic chemicals act to evoke cell injury and cell death and the mechanisms through which toxic chemicals interact to evoke toxicological manifestations. Students will have the opportunity to examine the application of the scientific method to the study of the fundamentals of cellular structure and function, as well as to investigate the molecular transmission of information from generation to generation and the integration of cells into whole functioning organisms.
