This course is an introduction to Management Information Systems (MIS) in today’s healthcare organizations. It helps students to understand what Information System (IS) components are available and how they can utilize appropriate IS applications in the healthcare sector. Its emphasis on a data collection system specifically designed to support planning, management, and decision making in healthcare facilities and organizations. It provides the terminology used in the field of IS and how IS principles can apply to healthcare organizations. Finally, the students are introduced to the challenges associated with implementing a new IS, and how the risks of implementation failure could be mitigated.
