Industrial Engineering Department
Faculty of Engineering
IE 335: Engineering Measurements Lab
Linear and Angular measurements using fixed and variable gauges and optical measurement tools.
IE 367: Engineering Materials Lab
Measuring the various properties of materials including tensile, hardness, fatigue, impact toughness, and creep. Metallographic and microstructural testing, corrosion testing, cold working, heat treatment; and nondestructive testing. Weekly experiments include data collection, data analysis, and interpretation and presentation of results.
IE 320: Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) Lab
Practical experience in three-dimensional drafting of key mechanical elements and assemblies using computer-aided drafting/design (CAD) software packages.
IE 434: Control and Automation Lab
Controlling mechanical systems using various types of controllers. Topics include the control of x-y table using stepper motors, developing ladder logic programs for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), pneumatic and servo control systems, control system implementation using related engineering software applications, and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) tools and applications.
IE 459: Human Factors Lab
Tools and techniques used in work analysis and improvement. Topics include principles of workstation and hand tool design, anthropometric measurements, physical and physiological workload measurement, time measurements, applications of motion economy, and cognitive measurements.
IE 469: Manufacturing Processes lab
Sand casting, molding, thermoforming, welding, sheet metal forming, press working, machining, and forming using computer numerical control (CNC) machines.
