As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its international presence and keep up with the latest global academic standards, Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) participated in the recent Erasmus international project BASE (Bologna-Aligned Science Education in Palestine and Jordan) meeting, hosted by the University of Barcelona, Spain.
The university was represented at this international academic forum by Dr. Munther Qandah, head of the Chemical Engineering Department, who participated alongside a select group of academics and researchers in discussing mechanisms for developing science programs and aligning them with the European "Bologna Process" framework, which is a fundamental reference for unifying higher education standards and enhancing its quality at the European and international levels.
The meeting witnessed wide participation from representatives of prestigious universities from Jordan, Palestine, Italy, and Spain, in addition to the Union for the Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED). The discussions focused on ways to develop curricula, enhance academic quality systems, and qualify educational programs for international accreditation, ensuring the achievement of competitive educational outcomes recognized across borders.
The BASE project is a strategic Euro-Mediterranean initiative led by An-Najah National University, aiming to bring about a qualitative shift in science programs at Palestinian and Jordanian universities by aligning them with European standards. This contributes to facilitating the mobility of students and academics, enhancing research collaboration opportunities, and achieving mutual academic recognition among partner institutions.
The participation of Jordan University of Science and Technology in this international project aligns with its vision aimed at expanding its global partnership network, exchanging expertise with leading academic institutions, and enhancing the quality of higher education locally and regionally. This positively impacts the educational and research processes and contributes to strengthening the university's prestigious academic standing on both regional and international levels.
