Dear students, parents, and esteemed visitors,
It is an honor to serve as the Head of the Department of Urban Planning and Design, established in 2008 as part of the College of Architecture and Design. I am also deeply proud of the accomplishments and creativity of our students across various planning and design courses.
Urban planning is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of communities. Planners must be prepared to manage projects of all sizes, both long-term and short-term. Their mission is to enhance the quality of life by addressing key community needs, such as housing, land use, transportation, and sustainable development, all while preserving the natural environment.
Our students have worked on numerous urban planning and design projects in cities such as Aqaba, Irbid, Ramtha, Amman, and Jerash. They also gain valuable experience through internships with companies, municipalities, and planning offices. The department has formalized a partnership with the Irbid Municipality, allowing students to receive practical training and access to necessary resources, preparing them for the job market.
To raise awareness about the importance of urban planning and introduce the discipline to the wider community, the department held its first Urban Planning Exhibition in March 2015, under the patronage of the university president. During the exhibition, students showcased their projects from across their five years of study.
