The Microbiology laboratory is located in M6 L-1. This lab is fully equipped with a wide range of equipment that students require during the practical component of their course work. The courses given in this laboratory are: Clinical Microbiology I, Clinical Microbiology II, Diagnostic Immunology and Serology, Medical Parasitology, Viruses and Medical Fungi.
During these courses, students will undergo full review of the theoretical aspects of each laboratory session followed by practical implementation of the required skills. Students’ work undergoes supervision by the laboratory instructor. Assessment of students’ comprehension of the skills is performed at each laboratory session and periodically using exams and analysis/identification of unknown samples.
Some of the equipment available in this laboratory include: Class II Biological Safety Cabinets, Fume Hoods, Autoclave, Hot Air Oven, Room Air Incubators, CO2 incubator, Refrigerators, Freezers, Staining Stations, Microscopes, Bunsen Burners, Tabletop Centrifuges, Microcentrifuges, Water baths, Weighing Scales, Overhead Projector, and Data Show.
