Welcome to the Department of Allied Medical Sciences at Jordan University of Science and Technology. Our department offers a bachelor's degree in five different disciplines of allied medical sciences; radiologic technology, optometry, paramedicine, respiratory therapy, and anesthesia technology.
The roles of radiography and imaging technologies such as MRI, CT, and nuclear medicine have been developing rapidly over the last few years. For example, imaging-guided interventions have replaced conventional surgical procedures. Optometry or vision science is critical for patient eye care. It provides the required examinations and treatments for different eye diseases such as ocular inflammation, retinal disease, and strabismus. Paramedic or emergency medical services (EMS) is the field of study that have been growing exponentially in the last decades. Paramedics now can perform lifesaving interventions to patients in the prehospital setting, stabilize patient’s conditions and transport them to the appropriate care facilities. Anesthesia technology provides graduates with the
knowledge and skills that are needed to become a qualified anesthesia technology practitioner ready to work under the supervision of anesthesiologist in hospitals or other healthcare institutions. Graduates can perform a patient care role predominantly assisting with the administration and monitoring of anesthesia and has an extensive knowledge of anesthesia techniques, instruments, supplies and technology. Respiratory therapists are specialized healthcare practitioners trained
in critical care and cardiopulmonary medicine in order to work therapeutically with people who have acute critical conditions, cardiac and pulmonary disease.
Our faculty members are well recognized and qualified from highly respected world-leading universities. The department is well established with a range of training labs and equipment. The curriculum of our programs is versatile and comprehensive in terms of courses and clinical training. To ensure the quality of our graduates, and as part of our programs, students undergo clinical practice and field training in different hospitals and healthcare centers.
