The Department was established in 1996 after the Department of Nutrition and Animal Production (established in September 1990) had been divided into two different departments; Department of Animal Production and Department of Nutrition and Food Technology.
The Department offers Bachelor Degree in Nutrition and Food Technology. The Master's degree started in 2003 in two programs:
1. Nutritional Sciences
2. Food Technology
There are laboratories for food analysis and a small Dairy Factory, which are used for teaching and research purposes. Teaching and practical training cover many areas including diet therapy, human nutrition, food service system management, food chemistry, food processing, thermal preservation, food microbiology and quality control.
Graduates of the Department are qualified to work in hospitals, food processing plants, and research centers.
