Professor Dr. Maysar Al-Akash - Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, participated in the opening of the regional coordination meeting to discuss the situation of highly pathogenic avian influenza in the Middle East and to discuss action plans guiding the global strategy organized by the Regional Office for the Middle East of the World Organization for Animal Health.

.During her speech, Dr. Al-Akash stressed that bird flu has become one of the most serious challenges facing the region and the world, especially with the emergence of highly contagious strains that have spread widely in the Middle East.  

Dr. Al-Akash explained the role of the College of Veterinary Medicine in combating animal diseases, which is one of its priorities, as it works to improve education and training for students and veterinary practitioners, with a focus on field research that aims to enhance animal health and reduce the risks of disease transmission.​

The college hosted the third day of the meeting, which constitutes a platform that brings together experts from various disciplines to exchange experiences and ideas about best practices to confront this global challenge. The college’s participation reflects its permanent commitment to cooperation with regional and international organizations to achieve common goals in the field of animal health.
