The mission of the department complies with the mission of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine:
- To provide a unique and critical linkage between the basic and clinical sciences and effective integration of the disciplines of pathology (anatomic & clinical), clinical chemistry, poultry diseases, epidemiology and herd health, dairy and meat hygiene and animal health into the teaching, research, and service programs of the faculty of veterinary medicine.
- To educate and train undergraduate and graduate students to assume food safety positions in industry, academic institutions and regulatory agencies and to provide outreach education to industry, regulatory and public health , and consumers.
- To provide teaching, research and public engagement programs that benefit the animals, people and environment through the promotion of animal health, alleviation of animal suffering, efficient and responsible animal production, conservation of animal and broader ecological resources, and protection of public health .
- To provide the highest quality consultancy and diagnostic services in the areas of anatomic and clinical pathology and poultry diseases to our veterinary teaching Center, veterinarians, SPANA, Humane Centre and other national institutions.
