JUST Participating in IREX Workshop

​A group of researchers and administrative academics from Jordan University of Science and Technology participated in a five-day workshop titled "Research Management and Leadership," held in Amman, Jordan. The workshop was organized by IREX, an international non-profit organization specializing in education and international development, which operates in over 100 countries to empower youth, develop leaders, and support educational reform. IREX focuses its programs on promoting and building more just, prosperous, and open societies through academic and professional exchange programs.

The workshop covered a wealth of valuable knowledge and information, including the foundations of research universities, global trends in higher education, evaluation of research systems in universities, and institutional self-assessment. It also addressed governance and research ethics, encompassing building data-driven decision-making capacity, research ethics, and integrity principles. The workshop further explored researcher development through the establishment of institutional frameworks to support researchers, university ranking systems, reputation management, and strategies for enhancing university visibility. Additionally, the workshop covered research funding opportunities, including pre- and post-grant procedures, crowdfunding, and diversifying income sources to support research. The workshop concluded with a presentation on maximizing research impact, transferring proprietary knowledge, research companies, and developing an implementation plan for future university initiatives. The workshop participants expressed that it was an enriching experience that enhances research management capabilities and aims to provide practical insights for advancing research excellence in universities.
