Call for Application: Technical Staff for SALAM Project - Interreg NEXT MED

​1. Background 
The SALAM Project (Social, sustAinable and incLusive heAlth care systems in Med area) is funded under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme. The project aims to ensure equal access to health care and strengthen the resilience of health systems through the adoption of a co-defined SALAM solution, including telecardiology services, multidisciplinary training, community awareness activities, and a transnational research network across Italy, Spain, Lebanon, and Jordan.
Within this framework, Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), as a partner in the SALAM Project, seeks to engage qualified technical staff to support project implementation, particularly activities linked to the hospital hub in Jordan, telemedicine technology integration, training delivery, and the transnational research and innovation stream.
The selected technical staff will contribute to improving healthcare access for remote and vulnerable populations, including people affected by cardiovascular diseases, caregivers, refugees, and migrant workers, by supporting the operationalization of the SALAM solution and related technical activities.


2. Objectives of the Call
The purpose of this call is to recruit technical staff to support one or more of the following implementation areas:
Area 1 - Hospital Hub and Telemedicine Support
•    Support the coordination and establishment and operationalization of the hospital hub in Jordan.
•    Assist in the coordination, integration, testing, and day-to-day technical use of telemedicine and telecardiology devices, including equipment validated through prior project capitalization.
•    Contribute to technical set-up, troubleshooting, and operational support for technical and remote consultation and real-time cardiac monitoring workflows.
Area 2 - Training and Capacity Building Support
•    Support the implementation of transnational training programmes addressed to healthcare professionals.
•    Assist trainers and healthcare providers in the practical use of telemedicine tools, digital health applications, and selected biodevices.
•    Contribute to the preparation of technical materials, demonstrations, and exchange-session logistics.
Area 3 - Research, Monitoring, and Technical Reporting
•    Support the functionality of the SALAM transnational research center through technical coordination and documentation.
•    Contribute to data collection, implementation reporting, equipment manuals, and technical records required for project monitoring and quality assurance.
•    Liaise with healthcare, engineering, and project teams to ensure technical activities are aligned with project outputs and reporting requirements.
3. Expected Tasks
Telemedicine and Hub Implementation
•    Assist in the coordination, specification, installation, customization, and operational support of telemedicine platforms and related equipment.
•    Provide technical support for devices used in telecardiology and hub-based service delivery.
•    Help maintain functionality of the hospital hub and document technical needs and interventions.
Training and Technical Assistance
•    Support coordination, workshops, demonstrations, and practical sessions for healthcare providers, technicians, and other target users.
•    Prepare or adapt technical guidance, quick-reference notes, and user support materials.
•    Assist with digital skills activities linked to the project training and awareness programme.
Research and Innovation Support
•    Support technical collaboration between healthcare professionals, engineers, and researchers within the SALAM network.
•    Contribute to activities related to affordable biomedical devices and healthcare technology solutions responding to territory needs.
Reporting and Coordination
•    Prepare concise technical progress notes and input for implementation reports.
•    Coordinate with project managers, experts, and partner institutions on scheduled technical activities.
4. Required Profile
Applicants should demonstrate qualifications and experience in one or more of the following areas:
•    Technical support for medical devices, e-health systems, telemedicine platforms, or digital health services.
•    Training support for healthcare professionals in the use of equipment or digital tools.
•    Preparation of technical documentation, implementation reports, or operational manuals.
•    Work in multidisciplinary environments involving different disciplines and project teams.
•    English communication skills sufficient for transnational coordination and reporting.
•    Experience in EU-funded or internationally funded projects will be considered an advantage.
5. Eligibility Criteria
Applicants are expected to meet the following minimum criteria:
•    A PhD degree in relevant fields.
•    At least 3 years of relevant professional or technical experience in technical external projects administration and implementation.
•    Demonstrated ability to support field implementation or technical operations.
•    Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and intercultural project environment.
•    Availability to contribute according to the SALAM project timeline and activity schedule.
Note: The issuing institution may adapt the minimum degree requirement, years of experience, or additional administrative conditions in line with its procurement and HR rules.
6. Deliverables
The selected technical staff may be expected to deliver one or more of the following outputs:
•    Technical support records related to hospital hub implementation and telemedicine integration.
•    Technical manuals, user notes, or troubleshooting guidance for equipment and digital tools.
•    Training support materials and implementation notes for practical sessions.
•    Technical contributions to activity, monitoring, and implementation reports.
•    Documentation supporting research-center activities, technical collaboration, or innovation-related actions.
7. Duration of Engagement
The engagement is expected to take place during the implementation period of the SALAM project, which runs for 36 months. Technical tasks may be assigned according to the activity schedule of the relevant work packages, especially those related to the establishment of the hospital hubs, implementation of training programs, and operation of the transnational research center.

9. Selection Procedure
Applications will be evaluated based on:
•    Relevance of technical qualifications and professional experience
•    Experience in technology support
•    Ability to support administration, implementation, training, and technical coordination activities
•    Experience in administering EU-funded or international cooperation projects
•    Completeness and quality of the application
Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview and/or technical assessment.
