The ISO system is a quality assurance system that positively impacts quality management. It helps certificate holders carry out their operations more efficiently and track all completed tasks with the associated documents, leading to improved performance, fewer mistakes, and increased customer satisfaction.
At Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), most of the administrative units, centers, and departments have obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification, with most of them holding this certification since 2012. During the last visit by the external auditor, 33 certificates were awarded to various entities within the university.
The Deanship of Academic Development and Quality Assurance (ADQA) at JUST plays a significant role in initiating and sustaining ISO systems. Its main responsibilities can be summarized as follows:
Raising awareness about the importance of the ISO system through visits and workshops conducted by the ADQA team.
Organizing internal audit workshops to qualify auditors who can assist ADQA in performing the internal audit process.
Planning and conducting internal audits to assess the status of ISO systems within certified entities.
Organizing and implementing management review meetings to make decisions and recommendations for improving ISO system mechanisms.
Coordinating the external audit process.
Receiving non-compliance reports from external auditors and managing and monitoring corrective actions.
ADQA also has a future vision to further expand quality assurance principles and support other units at JUST in obtaining ISO certification.
